01/16/2009 - Memphis, TN (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Deron Williams had game-bests of 27 points and 12 assists to record his 13th double-double on the season, as the Utah Jazz staved off the Memphis Grizzlies, 101-91.
Ronnie Brewer added 21 points for the Jazz, who have won five of six overall. Mehmet Okur and Andrei Kirilenko dropped 13 points each in the win.
O.J. Mayo ended with 23 points for the Grizzlies, who have dropped five in a row and nine of 10 overall. Hakim Warrick and Mike Conley totaled 15 points each in defeat.
Up by six late in the game, Kirilenko's dunk opened a 94-86 lead for the visitors.
Warrick answered with a three-point play to make it 94-89 with 2:32 showing on the clock.
The teams traded baskets and Williams nailed a three to give the Jazz a 99-91 lead with just under 1 1/2 minutes left.
Memphis failed to pose a threat from there.
The Jazz were up 26-21 after the first quarter and led 54-43 at the break.
Williams' two free throws capped a 13-4 Utah run to open the second half, giving the Jazz a 67-47 lead with about 7 1/2 minutes left in the third.
Moments later, Rudy Gay's free throw started a 15-2 Memphis run that brought the Grizzlies within 71-64 after Marko Jaric nailed a three and went 2-for-2 from the line.
However, the Jazz stretched their lead to an 80-69 cushion heading into the final 12 minutes.
Utah's lead hovered around 11 points until two free throws from Conley and a three-point play from Mayo cut it to 90-84 with 3:59 left to play.
Game Notes
Grizzlies forward Darius Miles played in the game, which was his second appearance with Memphis since re-signing with the team on January 10. That hit the 10-game threshold needed to make the Blazers responsible for $18 million on their cap over the next two years as Miles' contract became guaranteed with the appearance. He originally signed as a free agent with Boston this past August and was waived before the season began, but still played in six preseason contests, which count against the 10-game total. He played in two games with the Grizzlies for a total of nine minutes after serving a 10- game suspension for violating the league's drug policy. He was subsequently waived, then brought back last Saturday....The Grizzlies resumed a three-game homestand and are 0-2 on the residency. The Grizzlies are 9-13 at home this season...Utah sports an 8-12 mark as the guest this season...Utah is 3-0 against Memphis this season and posted a 117-100 victory in the last meeting on November 26 in Salt Lake City. The Jazz have won eight straight against the Grizzlies, who are winless in the previous six games at home in this series.

MySportsbook.com and Kentucky Derby Offer Bonuses
The 2008 Kentucky Derby has announced a $1-million bonus for this weekend’s 134th ‘Run for the Roses’ and MySportsbook.com is doing the same.
Well, not quite $1 million, but MySportsbook.com is offering a 75% rebate for Kentucky Derby lines. Check out the exclusive horse racing bonus for all the details.
According to MySportsbook.com, the favorites for Saturday’s Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky are: Curlin (+250); Street Sense (+500); Scat Daddy (+700); Circular Quay (+750); and Nobiz Like Shobiz (+800).
Derby organizers announced this week that there will be a $1-million bonus at the 2007 Kentucky Derby odds if the first-place horse wins by more than 6 1/2 lengths – the margin of Barbaro's victory last year. The bonus would be divided Saturday among the winning trainer, jockey, owner and a charity, with each receiving 25 percent. The designated charity is the Barbaro Memorial Fund.
''It's certainly creative, it's certainly fun and it has something for the horsemen, which we always want to embrace,'' Churchill Downs president and chief executive Robert Evans said at a news conference. ''What's really cool is it will force us to remember Barbaro.''
Meanwhile, the Derby favorite – Curlin – is going against the odds this year. It's been 125 years since Apollo won after skipping his 2-year-old season, and not since Regret in 1915 has such a lightly seasoned horse worn the blanket of red roses.
Arkansas Derby winner Curlin – unbeaten in three career races – tries to overcome both those obstacles in Saturday's 133rd Derby.
''We're not running against history,'' trainer Steve Asmussen said Monday. ''We're running against who they load up.''
Six other horses have run in the Derby without benefit of 2-year-old races and with three or fewer starts. The best any of them managed was a sixth-place finish by Showing Up last year.
Asmussen dismissed suggestions that Curlin's lack of racing experience could keep him from the winner's circle.
”He exudes confidence and he's got a great presence about him,'' the trainer said. ''I feel great about the position we're in. He's not worried about anything, why should you be?''
The Kentucky Derby is at 4:04 p.m., ET Saturday.

Chiefs' Treen Green out for Sunday's game
How long Trent Green will remain sidelined is unknown. Coach Herm Edwards said Monday he will miss a second straight start Sunday when the Chiefs host the San Francisco 49ers.
A two-time Pro Bowler, Green was going into a feet-first hook slide when he was knocked unconscious by a thunderous, head-snapping hit from Cincinnati's Robert Geathers.
Oddsmakers at online sportsbook MySportsbook.com currently have the Chiefs listed as 7-point favorites versus the 49ers.
The 49ers got beat by Philadelphia 38-24 as a 6.5-point underdog last week. The combined score went OVER the posted over/under total (42.5).
Alex Smith completed 27-of-46 passes for 293 yards with a touchdown. Michael Robinson rushed for 29 yards and a pair of touchdowns on five carries.
The Chiefs lost 9-6 to Denver last week as an 11-point underdog. The combined score was well UNDER the posted over/under total (38).
Larry Johnson rushed for 126 yards on 27 carries. Damon Huard completed 17-of-23 passes for 133 yards with no touchdowns and no interceptions.
