Redd's 44 paces Bucks win over Kings

01/17/2009 - Sacramento, CA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Michael Redd poured in a season-high 44 points to lead the Milwaukee Bucks in a 129-122 victory over the Sacramento Kings at ARCO Arena.

It was the Bucks' first win in Sacramento since a 112-101 triumph on March 23, 2004.

Charlie Villanueva chipped in 25 points and 12 rebounds for the Bucks, who have alternated wins and losses for the last 13 games. Luke Ridnour ended with 17 points and 10 assists, while Luc Mbah a Moute and Richard Jefferson scored 16 each.

John Salmons led a balanced attack with 24 points and six helpers for Sacramento, which saw all five of its starters reach double figures. Kevin Martin also dropped 24 and Brad Miller had 20 points and nine boards.

Jason Thompson logged 22 points and 11 rebounds for the Kings, who are 2-7 over their last nine games.

With the Kings down by three with a shade over four minutes left, Thompson went 1-of-2 from the line to cut it to 112-110.

Villanueva drained a three to give the Bucks a five-point lead with 3:03 remaining.

After the Bucks built a six-point lead, Salmons knocked down a three-pointer with 51 seconds left to cut the deficit to 123-120.

Villanueva's two free throws with 40.1 seconds left gave Milwaukee a 125-120 advantage, and he then stole the ball on the ensuing Sacramento possession, which all but sealed the deal.

The Bucks were up 37-18 after the first quarter and led 67-47 at the break.

A 9-0 run to start the third brought the Kings within 67-56 with 10:45 left in the frame. Martin had six of the points and Beno Udrih had the other three points to close it out.

Later in the quarter, Ridnour's three-point play capped a 7-0 Bucks run that upped the visitor's lead to 79-60 with 8:41 showing on the clock.

Late in the third, Thompson had a three-point play, Martin drained a three and Francisco Garcia dropped a layup to cut it to 89-78.

Sacramento trailed 98-83 heading into the final 12 minutes.

Thompson's layup capped a 15-5 Sacramento run to open the fourth frame. The surge pulled the Kings within 103-98 with just over eight minutes left.

Moments later, Salmons' three-pointer closed it to 111-107.

Game Notes

The Bucks shot 50 percent from the field and the Kings hit 51.5 percent of their shots...Sacramento was 37.5 percent from beyond the arc. Milwaukee was 58.8 percent from long range...The Bucks kicked off a three-game West Coast road trip and are 9-15 away from the Bradley Center this season...The Kings are 7-14 at ARCO Arena on the year and had won three straight and seven of their past eight games with Milwaukee.

Moreno was selected in the first round of April's NFL draft and is expected to carry the rushing load for the Broncos this season. And with Jay Cutler now in Chicago, Moreno might be expected to be Denver's entire offense.

Green enters a crowded backfield in New York, but considering both Thomas Jones and Leon Washington are unhappy about their contract situations and might holdout, the former Iowa product could become the Jets' primary back.

Everyone was shocked when Al Davis took Heyward-Bey with the eighth overall pick in April's draft, but the kid has a tremendous amount of talent and if quarterback JaMarcus Russell takes the next step this year, the former Maryland product could blossom. Plus, Heyward-Bey will be looking to prove the people wrong who said Oakland should have taken Michael Crabtree with the No. 8 pick.
